I-43 Rehabilitation Project

The Wis. Dept. of Transportation (WisDOT) Southeast Region announces I-43 Rehabilitation Project lane closures and restrictions from August 5 to August 10 in Ozaukee County. Drivers should be aware of reduced speed limits and remember to use caution while traveling through any work zone. This advisory does not include closures by local authorities for accidents or unusual incidents (such as weather).

Traffic Impacts:

  • FULL CLOSURES – Southbound I-43 between northern Ozaukee County line and WIS 32/County V will be closed NIGHTLY, Sunday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
    • Detour: Southbound I-43 will exit at WIS 32/Sauk Trail Road and follow County LL to WIS 60 back to I-43
  • FULL CLOSURE – WIS 57 between County W and I-43 will be closed NIGHTLY, Sunday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
    • Detour: Southbound WIS 57 will exit at County W and follow WIS 60 back to I-43
  • Southbound I-43 will have daytime single lane closures throughout the week.
  • Northbound I-43 between WIS 32 and northern Ozaukee County line will have daytime and nighttime single lane closures throughout the week.

Dept. of Public Works: Compost Site Attendant

The Village of Saukville is currently seeking part-time, seasonal Compost Site Attendants.  Duties include, but are not limited to, supervision and maintenance of the Village Compost Site located at the Public Works Garage at 649 S. Main Street.  Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturdays only, on a rotating schedule, starting immediately through November 17, 2018.  Interested parties should complete an employment application  and return it to the Village of Saukville, 639 E. Green Bay Ave.  Applications can be obtained from the website or at Village Hall.  Questions should be directed to Raymond deBruijn, Public Works Superintendent, at 262-284-0545, or  

Crossing Guard 

(Part-time position  ~10hrs/week)
The Village of Saukville is currently seeking a part-time Crossing Guard to work during the school year, before and after school shifts, approximately 10 hours per week. 
Hourly wage:  $12.74.

Dries Street Foot Bridge - UPDATE

The Dries Street Foot Bridge is closed for renovation.  It will be replaced and is expected to be open for use by mid-August.

Cross Connection Control Program

The Village's Cross Connection Control Inspection Program, managed by HydroCorp Inc. (HCI), is continuing in 2018.  HCI will continue to contact homeowners and businesses to arrange inspections.  There is no cost for these inspections.  Each inspection takes less than 20 minutes on average for a home and 45 minutes for a business.

Paddling Through Nature

Paddling takes a mix of knowledge and skills. Saukville residents are invited to join a Riveredge Adventure Guide for an unforgettable evening paddling experience that will begin with safety and end with a splash! The best part? Residents will have the chance to learn about their river and do it for FREE! We will use 1 person kayaks. Ages 10+. 

This paddle will start at 5:30 p.m. on Friday August 24th at Waubedonia Park and end at Ehlers Park, although locations are weather dependent. Expected end time is around 7:30 p.m. Full details for the day will be given those who register!
This event is FREE, but open to Saukville residents only. Pre-registration through Riveredge Nature Center is required. Call 262-375-2715 to register.

Healthy River Heroes

Meet Mary Ann! Mary  Ann is a Community Rivers Program "Healthy River Hero". She is the founder and progenitor of Wellspring Organic Farm and Education Center, a nonprofit organization located along the Milwaukee River here in Saukville. She is passionate about organic farming, cover crops, and other healthy land management practices. She has participated in many aspects of the CRP already and continues to be an ally to the river. We love having you aboard Mary Ann! Thank you for all you do!

Fire Department
