Community Rivers Program - Softshell Turtle Release

Last week’s Spiny Softshell Turtle Release went phenomenally thanks to the incredible efforts of local Healthy River Hero, Angela Tomasino!  Angela is nurse and says that caring for others (including animals) is just part of who she is.  Not only did she save these turtles from predation, she coordinated their release with the Community Rivers Program to share the love and to give everyone in the community an opportunity to experience river life first hand.  It was great to see so many residents engaged with the Milwaukee River and caring for some of it’s smallest creatures.  Everyone who helped release these turtles back to their home is a Healthy River Hero in our eyes!
If you missed the turtle release last week, you can find photos of the event on the Community Rivers Program Facebook and Instagram pages @communityrivers.  You can see a video of Angela on our social media pages as well!
